Mallorca without a car

A Mallorca holiday without a car works best when transport helps choose the programme from the beginning. Pick a base with connections that serve your interests, then build the itinerary around a few outings. Palma is a practical planning starting point for travellers who want cultural days and rail excursions, while each accommodation still needs its own access check.

A Palma city break on foot and public transport

Give the city enough time. A cathedral visit, a museum and an evening meal need not be combined into a single exhausting day. Use local public transport or a taxi where walking does not suit the journey, and check the route to the particular entrance you need.

Accommodation choice matters more than a broad destination label. Confirm how you will arrive with luggage and return after dinner before booking.

A train day in Sóller

The historic Sóller railway offers a specific outing to plan around. Use the operator's current timetable and ticket information, and leave time in the town between the outward and return journeys. The historic train and tram have separate arrangements from the island's public transport services.

You do not need to add every possible extension. A town visit, a meal and the train journey can make a full day on their own.

Binissalem by public railway

TIB's rail network serves Binissalem, making a town outing possible without a rental car. A wine visit requires more detail: confirm the chosen venue, appointment and the route from the station before booking. A town's rail connection does not make every rural estate an easy walk.

Check both the outward and return services for your travel date, including any engineering notices. Keep one flexible day so that a changed timetable does not determine the entire holiday. Car-free travel becomes much easier when the itinerary fits the available connections instead of assuming they will fit an ambitious island-wide circuit.
